W Bro Rufus McFarland, Worshipful Master of Gortin 994, welcomes R W Bro George Lutton, W Bro Sam McFarland and W Bro Alan Campbell of Ardmore Lodge 835 Saintfield to the April Communication of Gortin 994.

W Bro Sam McFarland joined Gortin in December 1963 and W Bro Alan Campbell joined Gortin in November 1971.   The Saintfield Brethren had a wonderful evening of fellowship, especially Sam McFarland who has relatives in the Gortin area, who discovered that some of the McFarland Brethren of Gortin were related to him

A service of ‘Nine Lessons & Carols’ was held in Brackaville Parish
Church, Coalisland on Sunday 12th December 2010 to celebrate the
Centenary of Scott Masonic Lodge No.300 Coalisland.

Very Rev Kenneth R.J.Hall Dean of Clogher led the service assisted by
the Rev G.M.S.Watson, both former Rectors of Brackaville parish.

The local Bella Voce Youth Choir led the praise and also contributed
several beautiful festive musical pieces. Brethren from neighbouring
     Masonic Lodges read the lessons.

There was a large turnout in support of the Lodge Centenary which was
reflected in the collection taken up in support of two local charities, The
Niamh Louise Foundation & (Lilac) Life is for living after Cancer.
Immediately following the service the congregation retired to the parish
hall where they enjoyed seasonal refreshment.

Scott Masonic Lodge was formed in 1910, the Rev Henry Gordon
Waller Scott, his brother Dr J.W.J.Scott and Robert Wilkins were
granted warrant No.300 by the Grand Lodge of Ireland to provide and
maintain a Masonic Lodge in Coalisland.

The Lodge was appropriately named ‘Scott Masonic Lodge’ in honour of
the two brothers who were resident locally, one as Rector of
Tullanisken Parish Church Newmills and the other as the Doctor in
Coalisland. The Grandson and namesake of Robert Wilkins is the
     current Chaplain.

In 2010 the R.W. Provincial Grand Lodge of Tyrone and Fermanagh held their September Communication in the Derryvullan North Parish Hall, Irvinestown, as part of the Centenary celebrations of the Irvinestown Masonic Lodge 277.

W.Bro Richard Henderson Worshipful Master of Irvinestown 277 welcomed the Provincial Lodge to Irvinestown and had a special mention for the PAGM Rt W Bro Norman Humes who had attended primary school in this very hall. A presentation of a Centenary 2010 Whiskey Glass was made to each of the three principal officers to commemorate their visit.

R.W.Bro. William McLain told the brethren that his grandfather, a sergeant in the RUC and a member of Kipling Newporton Lodge 315, Ballinamallard in 1909 had signed on behalf of that Lodge the permission of the Lodge for Irvinestown to form a new Lodge, it being one of the neighbouring Lodges. He was therefore delighted to be present for the celebration of the centenary of Irvinestown 277.

After a very enjoyable communication brethren were served refreshments in the church hall.

bulletBarton ML 220 - dedication of New Hall - September 2009

On Friday 25 September 2009 Barton ML No 220 Pettigo dedicated a new Masonic Hall in the presence of the Assistant Grand Master and invited guests from all over the Province of Tyrone and Fermanagh and further afield. [Photos below]

The occasion provided a rare opportunity for brethren to witness the dedication of a new Masonic Hall in a ceremony conducted in accordance with ancient ritual.   The throng of members and visitors filling the hall to capacity made it difficult for the Director of Ceremonies to organise the procession which required three circuits of the altar.   During the ceremony of dedication oil, wine and grain were sprinkled on the altar.

To commemorate the event the Lodge published a history of Barton Masonic Lodge, compiled by Rt W Bro Maurice Lee, a member of the Lodge and Provincial Grand Secretary of PGL Tyrone and Fermanagh.

Copies of the History are available for the Lodge Secretary
